A Little Easter Gift

i made this little guy up and recently posted a small picture...

in which, stina asked about it. i drew up a quick and VERY informal pattern and emailed it all the way to sweden.
and what do you know, she's already whipped it up. here's hers!

if you too would like this quick little quilt pattern, let me know and i will email it all the way to you, too!

Happy Easter!

A Few MUST Haves...

i'm not much of a reader...not much at all, but in my years of parenting i've come across a few must haves for new parents and not so new parents. as a matter of fact, two of the books have crossed my path more recently, one of which, i was introduced to after evyn was born and boy do i wish i had this book for gavin 14 years ago! he was a cranky toddler and a horrible sleeper and after reading this book i now think i know why! even if you don't have sleep issues with your little one, it is very informative. the other book that i LOVVVEEE is this one. a mom of boys {i think 4} wrote this and in a nutshell it tells you what she learned about raising hardworking, productive children that contribute to society as adults. my favorite thing about this book is the age by age guide that tells you what they should be able to do and what you should be teaching them so that when they move out and go off to college or on a mission, they are able to function without you. every parent should read this!

and my last recommendation is this series of books that are age specific {they go to age 14}. when gavin was little he had me in tears most days and a preschool teacher told me about these books. i can't tell you how much it helped me understand my child. it helped me get through rough times with him. in the years that followed i bought each one for insight and a 'heads up' on what to expect.Align Left

if i could, i'd buy these books for all new parents, but i can't. so for now i will share what i've learned with you and hopefuly you'll share them with someone and we will all raise happy, hard working, respectful children who will one day, take flight with the confidence and strength they need and we will let them go, knowing we've given them the tools to be successful in their pursuits.

To Grandma, Love Masyn

last weekend poppy took masyn to grandma's office.
she LOVES to spend time with grandma
and grandma loves the sweet notes that masyn leaves behind...

i love the "LOVE" written in hearts!

Use Your Minde!!!

not only does masyn leave sweet notes for grandma...

she also leaves reminders for grandma...
{apparently, grandma was having a rough time that day and wasn't using her mind.}

Organizing Fabric

with a move on the horizon, i have been searching the web for ideas on how to organize my sewing room more effectively. let's be honest...parting with any of my fabric, is just not an option!

while in my quest, i ran across these fabic organizers.

they would fit nicely on a shelf, as well as, in a file cabinet.

do you have any great ideas? please share, i need all the help i can get!

The Family

ok...i can't deal with it anymore.
by {it} i mean the nicknames. it's waayyy too much work to remember to type 'the little princess' and besides it doesn't really fit her anymore and the happiest baby is no longer a baby, he's a 'big boy'. not to mention that when i make a book out the family posts, someone in the future might wonder why i talked so much about bob and never mentioned my husband!
SO...let me introduce you to my family.

{starting with 'bob' and going clockwise}
shawn, nolan, me, masyn, gavin & chelsie

oh...and not to leave out our newest member, evyn (but you already knew her name)
so there you have it. the family 'untitled'. i may still refer to gavin as bub and chelsie as sissy because that's what we call them here at home. i hope i haven't confused you all too much.
have a great weekend!
hope it's sunny in your corner of the world!

National Quilting Day

in honor of today, i thought i'd share a couple springy quilty things...
and speaking of today...
does it count if i'm cleaning the {quilt} room?
or do i actually have to quilt?
hmmm...

here's my version of cheri's plaid flowers.

i made it for my sister some time ago and it's still a favorite.

not much going on here...
just a little grouping of eggs with a wool applique.
