Valentines Day!!!

hi. a tad late on the valentines post, but what's a girl to do...

has everyone else been plagued with the flu?
it has taken a hold of our home for the past month and holy moly...

anyways...onto my cute valentine kiddos.

so valentines day went something like this...
wednesday i woke up with the horrible flu! i hadn't been that sick in...i can't even remember.
masyn was upset. she was worried that i would be sick for valentines day.
needless to say, the valentine gifts that she wanted didn't get made and mikaela took her out after school and got some last minute valentines stuff.
between mom, mikaela, and gavin {LOVE} them, all the valentines got made.
the next morning i woke up feeling so much better.
masyn had a wardrobe problem and forgot the last minute, thrown together gifts for her three friends and she asked me before exiting the car if she could have a redo. {poor thing}
took nolan to school and spent the morning making valentines gifts for masyn's friends, buying dinner and dessert.

 

 evyn and i showed up at masyn's school with balloons for each of the girls and the little valentines gift.  who knew balloons would make {EVERYTHING} better!
note to self...they DO!
 

the day went well and we celebrated with heart shaped meatoaf, pink mashed potatoes
and lots and lots of candy and {LOVE}

i hope you all had a {WONDERFUL} valentine's day!

we celebrated valentine's day this year with our traditional valentine's party

i got the valentine twinkie dessert idea from somewhat simple. it was a hit!

i used strawberry glaze instead of jam and it was super yummy! i baked the meatloaf in a 9 x 12 pan and cut it with a cookie cutter. easy, but cute. my dad & stepmom sent over the chocolate covered strawberries {delicious}. so much for the diet :(

i made the valentine holders like the ones found at the crafting chicks. i didn't have the supplies to make the letters, so i crafted the names with chenille stems that i had. an idea that came from here...

Valentines!

oh my gosh, valentines day is in a week and i know your probably up to your eyeballs in everything valentines but these are just too stinkin' cute not to share!!!

i know i've shared this cookie recipe before, but seriously. it is THE BEST sugar cookie recipe i've tried (and i've tried ALOT)



i got the recipe from a friend but i do believe it originated from pam.
and if you haven't visited pam over at stirring it up with pam, your missing out! seriously!

here's the BEST EVER sugar cookie recipe!

Cream:
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar

add:
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
3 Tbls. evaporated milk

mix in:
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

roll out dough between 2 sheets of wax paper. place in fridge until firm. cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. frost after they completely cool. bake at 375 for 6-8 min.

The yummy icing!
2 cups powdered sugar
2 Tbls corn syrup
2 Tbls water
1 tsp almond extract
food coloring

ENJOY!

i am bummed because just before valentines day there were sooo many great ideas. i wanted to do them all and instead i bookmarked them for next year. i did want to show you a couple that i found especially wonderful.

i love this one. it's hard for older boys to pass out valentines because they still want to be "cool" and i thought this idea from design mom was awesome.

wells fargo will now personalize your check cards for free!!! i LOVE it! so if your a wells fargo customer, all you have to do is download a picture to the site and voila!

A Quick Post

What does 3 girls + the stomache flu = ????

ALOT of VOMIT!!!

yes, the girls and i have been SUFFERING from the flu since late last night. the little princess seems to be better, but queenie and i are still hangin' in there.

there are so many good posts, i'm bummed that i can't take the time to read them all, however...

jen, from tater tots and jello tagged me (thank you) and i promise to get to that tomorrow. she also has some really cute bins that she made for her daughter, along with a really cool give away. don't miss out!

A Valentine Party

how fun!!!
today the little princess's kindergarten class had their valentine party.

here's a picture of her "valentine" outfit. the shirt didn't work out quite as i had hoped, but she didn't care. she said she felt like a "valentine rock star". that is so her!!!

a group of us decorated the tables, while the kids were at recess...

they were all smiles when they came in!

one of the moms put together the craft.

it was a big hit!

they each made a valentine for a special someone...
guess who gets this fabulous piece of art???

What 'cha Do On Wednesday

i realized that my what 'cha doin' wednesday should really be, what 'cha do ON wednesday because by the time i get to post this it's already thursday for some of you...
so here's what i did on wednesday...

i made this banner (inspired by my sister's) to go on my headboard. with this stuff from michaels (with the exception of the rick rack)

i made a valentine t-shirt for the little princess that i forgot to take a picture of so i'll show it to you tomorrow.

i loaded this quilt...

i decorated these for the little princess's school party tomorrow.

i put these together to deliver to some friends tomorrow.

and i made this special valentine for the best teacher ever!
