The {Witches} Ball

this year i was part of a group of women in charge
of our church's halloween party.
we hosted a witches ball

here are just a couple photos from that night.

we had a cauldron with dry ice and one of the witches
heckled and stirred her pot :)

it's an easy theme for your halloween party.

Scripture study

With littles,
scripture study has always been a little difficult.
Until now!!!
I found this app on the apple store

It's awesome and perfect for my family!
I bought each child a small notebook. Each night they write the scripture that we are learning about, a word or two that helps them remember what we learned as well as a picture that they draw. One of us helps evyn (our 4 year old) to jot down the scripture and a word or two. She draws the picture.
It has been a wonderful tool and we are all enjoying our family scripture study time.

Hope this helps! Happy studying!!!

Coloring away on a hot HOT day!!!

Did you get your stitchery ready?
I know Vickie is!
I decided to color today, since it doesn't require any physical exertion.

It's fun. You should try it :)
Here's a tip...
You will need to buy the jumbo pack of crayons crayons. Mine is the 120 pack. Make sure you write your name on it so the kids/grandkids don't think it's for them :)

Draw your pattern onto the background fabric. Before stitching, color. Start with the darkest color and outline. Then fill in with the lightest color.
For example, with the pumpkins, I outlined the pumpkin and it's veins with the darkest orange, lightly colored in with the lighter orange then with yellow, I colored the entire pumpkin blending the whole thing together and giving color to the face.

Once the coloring is done, follow the instructions on your pattern to set the color and start stitching :)

Happy Fall Friday!

Wanna stitch with me?

It's October!!!
I'm not sure what it's like where you are, but tomorrow we are going to hit 90
and it will hit triple digits by Sunday!
Trying to get into the Halloween spirit is hard,
so I've decided to work on a project I started last year.

Fat quarters quilt shop has the pattern and the kit to make this quilt.
If you are interested in stitching with me,
grab yourself a kit and a needle and let's get into the spirit!

It's soooo cute! I just love it! Oh and you get to color! How fun is that!

Happy October!!!

Gettin' my Cheri on...

I've plunged into the mass of fabric scraps to pull for
the common threads quilt by Cheri!

I'm lucky enough to be able to take the class from Cheri herself
at my favorite quilt shop with some of my favorite people!

And have I mentioned lately, how much I LOVE my sewing box
from The Original ScrapBox! It just makes everything pretty!

He's ONE!!!

This little guy turnes ONE today!!!
 I absolutely adore him.
I've never had a little dog and although I love my giant and Wilson,
I gotta say I may never go back to the the big guys...

Happy birthday Dexter Theodore (yes, all our dogs have been given middle names)

Cover it up!

Backyard receptions/shin-digs can be wonderful. Unfortunately, there always a few unsightly areas that need tending (or in our case, covering)...

One of our "problem areas" was the jacuzzi. Gigantic, full or water, and not going anywhere.

After some thought, I decided it should be turned into the dessert table. Gavin bought plywood and made a template to cut it out.

I bought the 120" wide muslin from Joanne's, made a square 120"x120", scalloped the edges with pinking shears and layered cloths over the "table".

It turned out perfect and I don't think anyone noticed what it was! They had their eyes on the beautiful cakes!!!

A great site!

Have you heard of Save on crafts? It's an online shop. It seriously has everything.
Boxwood wreaths galore and very reasonable!

(photo taken from karen rohner)

And I got this bistro easel there too.

If you are planning a party (or a wedding),
Head on over! You won't be sorry!

Happy Saturday!
