Evyn's Birthday Banner

my talented sister got the lovely task of making evyn's birthday banner
and she did a FABULOUS job!!!
thanks suz!!! love you!

ok. here's the funny part...
i set up the hoosier with picures of evyn and an autograph mat that i did for masyn's first birthday and love it. suz and i had a specific idea about how the banner should "drape" in the entry above the hoosier. kind of in a criss cross, but not to criss crossy way if you know what i mean. i grabbed the chair and the nail gun and we went to work. but as soon as shawn saw the nail gun he had to get involved :) (love you honey!)once i hung it, he didn't like it because "you couldn't see all the pictures". long story short, we had to re-hang it like you see in the above picture to make the man happy. holy moly. we don't like it hung this way. but we conceded and moved on with the rest of the party!

(suz...next time, we can't let him see the nail gun!)

Paper Flowers

maryjane over at the beehive cottage posted her beautiful paper flowers
and i just had to give them a try...

i googled "how to make flowers with cupcake liners" and found many different tutorials. in the end i just winged it.
i used:
4 liners per flower
lollipop sticks
hot glue gun
ribbon
pink scalloped punch (probably 1 - 1 1/4")
and i loved that maryjane put buttons as her center but i didn't have any, so i used flower stamens)
maryjane is going ot be selling these in her etsy shop if you don't have time to make your own. LOVE them! oh, and if you get a minute hop on over and check out her vintage trailer! oh.my.gosh!

A Recipe Book

that is WAAYYY too CuTe!!!

my sister pointed me in the direction of a fabulous, new to me, blog and i just had to share this recipe book.
click here to visit michelle at mish mash and see her cute recipe book. she even has a recipe that sounds delicious, although given the fact that i've been baking cupcakes, cookies and banana chocolate chip bread, i don't think i'll be trying it anytime soon. i need to give my waistline a break! i will however bookmark it and maybe i'll even make myself a cute recipe book like this one...

sure...in my spare time.
a girl can dream right!!!

{hmmm, i just had a thought...}
what a great gift it would make.
kenz...my birthday is in november. that gives you plenty of time!
i promise to not even ask what happened to all my recipes during the move ;)

Today was our

monthly quilt class and

with the 4th of july right around the corner, i decided to go with it for the theme.

i made these 'sparklers' that were on the country living website.

and i baked the lemon poppyseed mini bundt cakes for everyone.

we're working on the bunny hill blocks, but i think my favorite part is by far making all the goodies. and you can't beat being with friends!

here is a collage of my blocks. i've taken some inspiration from here and there. i LOVED the carrot idea from the happy zombie, and i decided the yo-yo's would be fun. actually, i didn't have time to applique the flowers, so that was a quicker alternative and i think they turned out pretty cute. the quilt will eventually go to my sister, i think she'll like it.

i hope you had a great day!

tell your hubby's, dad's, loved one's, happy father's day!!!
