What'cha Doin' Wednesday

another school year has past and it was time to update my 'mom' book. a couple years ago a very organized and creative friend gave this organizing tip. if your like me, you always have a ton of papers and calendars and stuff that forms great piles, but doesn't really have a place. my mom book has remedied all that. in fact, bob has one too, for all his receipts and misc. stuff that is always lying around.

inside my book i have dividers for myself, each of the kids, family and friends and a misc. category. i use the pocket dividers and cd holders come in handy.

i use business card holders to store small pieces of papers like bob's dress shirt tag (i can never remember the size) and little notes like this one from the little princess.

in each of the pockets of the kids category i have their immunization record, birth certificate, etc.

in the family and friends category, i keep announcements and notes that i don't want to lose.

in the kids section, i put the papers from that school year, such as, report cards, awards, notes, drawings, pictures, etc. and at the end of the year i transfer it into it's own folder. since i can't keep up with the scrapbooks, this is the next best thing. this is the little princess's preschool folder. i also keep calendars, phone lists, etc. in there for easy access and so i don't lose it.

it works for us, maybe this will work for you.
i also got this wall hanging quilted for my cousin.
and i got this yard sale find loaded for mardi.

i'll quilt it tomorrow as soon as i run to la mesa for more thread...

bob got done with work early and he and the baby worked on preparing the side of the yard for our square foot garden. he moved the gate back to make more room and cleared the disaster that had made itself at home there.
the little princess made soup. doesn't it look yummy!

i took pictures
and nancy watched from the sewing room...
i hope you had a great day!

What a great idea Julie! I don't know how you pack as much as you do into each day. I am in awe of you!

I love "Marie's comment! You need to confess...come on tell us "how do you do it?!"

She uses whips, chains, what a mouth on her, does not sleep! I mean after diet cokes all day what do you expect...Oh yes and a lot of take-out!

What a great idea! You're so smart -- all my info is in bulging folders and piles and it's a big huge mess. I HATE paperwork and mail and piles of paper!!! Nancy (what a cute kitty name) is getting big -- she's so cute!

Great idea! Love that you keep the receipts and everything in the notebook. I am always going crazy looking for receipts.

I love the idea of the book. There are always those things that have no particular belonging spot.

I love the purple Alstromeria. I have pink, white, lt. and dk. yellow ones, but no purple. They are great for bouquets, aren't they?

Yummy soup!

I just wanted to comment on Fudgie's comment :) Yes, boy do I have a mouth on me, the whips and chains...cps came and got them :( (I guess it's against the law) We don't eat out anymore (it was making us fat) and I'm only drinking 1 diet coke a day. (I still struggle with that one, but oh well.)
Have a productive day, it's not hard if you have a list:)

What a great idea. I am always looking for ways to keep us more organized. I also can't keep up with the scrapbooks so I have started printing the photos and writing on them as soon as I get them from the printer and putting them in album. I just make the albums by the year. So it makes it easier to go back and find the photos.
Thanks for sharing and I can't wait to see your garden!
Have a great day!

I do notebooks like that for all of the kids' school stuff. I've found it works well for me---and tkes away some of the scrapbooking guilt that I've felt in the past. I like your mommy notebook idea. I love organization---and am always trying to find ways to improve. Nancy kills me, by the way, what a cutie.
