Sending a Letter to Heaven

a couple of weeks ago, the little princess made a card for our neighbor who has been fighting a long battle with cancer.
before we were able to deliver it, he passed away and she was very upset.
we decided that we'd send it to heaven...

today was his celebration of life, so we went to the store and she picked out 3 balloons (the baby popped one!). i tied the letter to the ribbons and walked outside with her.

as she released the balloons, it was a very sweet moment for both of us.

we watched until the balloons made it to heaven.

take good care of our friend, Lord...

Oh, So sweet! Quite a few years ago my grandmother passed away shortly before her birthday. On the day of her birthday, my little daughter who was 5 at the time wanted to let a balloon go into heaven for her great grandma. It was a very sweet moment, indeed!

So sweet... We do that for my dad each year on his birthday. Each of my kids writes a letter to him and then we send them up. What a sweet daughter you have.

XOXO

Oh Julie. That's so sweet -- a moment your daughter will always remember. The last site I just visited before reading this was daysofmyfather.com, so between the two of you, I'm all weepy!

This is truly a wonderful story. I love how you speak openly about Heaven. How it gives your children such hope in the future. You guys are doing a great job as Christian parents. Have a blessed Monday!

How sweet. Very sweet. Sometimes when I have a pressing problem or something that I need to get out of my system, I type God emails. Crazy huh. Then I send them to me. And archive them. I have to believe he knows. When my dad passed away a few years ago I wrote him a note and put it in his hands before the casket was closed. Just because we can't literally "give" those things to them doesn't mean they don't get them! I'm sure.

What a sweet thoughtful princess you have.

Maybe because she has such a fantastic role model to look up to.
