(and michelle!)
today marks the shops anniversary and they are having a 25% off everything sale!
i love this place...at times it's my home away from home.
i am fortunate enough to be able to teach here and i LOVE it!
the shop sits on the corner of a busy street in an old house that was moved here in the early 1900's.
years ago, while i was working there, the woman who owned the home and was then in her late 80's, came by to visit with her son.
it was wonderful to hear her story.
the shop caters to all of us 'primitive' (and not-so-primitive) quilters.
it reminds me of cheers, you know...
where everyone knows your name.
it's the only shop i know of that the gals will take an hour (sometimes longer) to help you pick out your fabrics and will want to see it when your through!
friendships are built, memories are made and quilts are treasured here.
on a more personal note...
years ago, (i think 12...when i wasn't a quilter) i noticed that a new business took over the cute little house that was down the street from me. the really cute country sign read 'fat quarters'. and, as i drove by, i wondered what fat quarters meant and assumed it was a diet something or other. i remember thinking how wonderful it would be to have a place so close to home where i could walk to and have coffee with friends (at the time, i drank a lot of coffee!). months later, my mom and i went to a local craft show and recieved a coupon for a free pattern at a quilt shop.
yep...you guessed it, it was fat quarters. we both fell in love and the rest is beautiful quilting history. years and years later, i am still loving quilting, loving the quilt shop, loving the people, loving the friends i've made and continue to make and loving the time i get to share with my mom. it has been a blessing in my life and although there have been changes throughout the years, i still remember that day i drove by for the first time and am thankful that the Lord heard my silent prayer and answered it. it has changed my life.

What a great shop. I think that's Libby's local shop too. I spy all those new Cheri patterns too!
Oh to be able to walk to work, not sure that would be the right word as you enjoy it so much. How wonderful for you, I love the look of the store and I know I would love to visit. I am so happy for you, that you are happy there!! Thank you for sharing your story.
I am loving that place too---and I'm so grateful that your prayer was answered---because you have in turn blessed me(and many others).:)
Thanks for the fun pictures! It looks like such a fun shop. And wow, to have it down the street!
