a NEW sewing DESK!!!

oh my gosh!
i am SOOOOO EXCITED!
whoo HOO!

i've never had a sewing desk.
tables and what nots have always been fine for me

but not anymore baby!

this sewing desk from The Original Scrap Box
is AWESOMMMMEEE!

(the curtains are so much better too!)


each side has 4 large and 4 small bins
yep. can we say projects organized!

i have a long arm business,
so one side holds my threads and patterns and what nots
and the other side holds my current projects
both large and small.

and one of my favorite parts...
each door opens to hold lots of vinyl bags that have velcro on the back
you can put all the stuff that is taking up room in drawers and baskets
and put them in one place.
GENIUS!

the right side holds pens, scissors, feet (the sewing machine kind) and bias tape makers
to name a bit.



the other side has been neglected.
i have sew much room i'm trying to fill it.
and i still have more pockets that aren't filled.

k. my all time favorite part.
the acrylic windows.
there are a total of four. two in the center and two that are over the drawers.

they hold all my things and the pretty shows!
pretty and PRACTICAL!


the rest of the sewing room is coming along nicely.
slowly i'm getting it together.
lots of quilting happening around here!

but i wanted you to see the sewing desk that really would be AWESOME for anything.

Putting it together

the first order of business
is to clear out a space for what's in the boxes...
AND
finally get rid of these 1980 something lace curtains...


i will be honest.
shawn was not thrilled that he was nominated to put this thing together.

but with a little help from nolan
and his much needed comic relief
shawn and i laughed the entire time.

 

 

 

it's all put together, the curtains are made
and the big reveal is around the corner!!!

I LOVE packages!!!

almost as much as i LOVE to be organized.
both don't come along nearly as often as i would like
but GUESS WHAT!!!

my darling daughter got me all hooked up to get organized
and my sewing room (and shawn) couldn't be happier!!!

The Holidays Made Easy

i was asked to speak at church about designing on a dime
i had an idea to show the gals how you could decorate for the holidays
in a simple way.

i thought i would share with you what i did.
some of you may not want to decorate an entire house, some may not have the desire to spend a ton of money doing so and some may have the desire but no energy :)

i believe that the entrance to your house is important
it's like first impressions.

a table or a chair on your front porch or in your entry way is a great
place to display simple holiday statements.

i can't say enough about the use of greenery.
it makes a difference everywhere.

at christmas time, all you have to do is add a sprig of green and a ribbon and wha-la
CHRISTMAS!!!

I'm not going there.

our little posie mc poserson started preschool thursday.
much to her dismay.

and she refused to let me take her picture (on that day)
so i don't have any, except for one very sad looking one where she is clutching her dolly.

i dropped off a crying 3 year old and picked up a very happy camper.
until...
an hour later when she informed me that she's not going back.
nope. not even for a popsicle.

ugh. stubborn, beautiful baby!

It's HOT!!!

and i've had it!
i've tried sewing these blocks but it's too hot
so i didn't get far...

and i think the heat has affected my head.
the other day (after picking masyn up from school)
we had to run out. AGAIN. and she stopped me.

yep, apparently i had been running around town like this.
nice! keepin' it classy people!

 

 and on another note...
we've lived in this house through TWO summers and i JUST realized
i had blinds in the kitchen.
yep. i forgot that they were tucked up under the valances.

seriously. it's the heat.
i'm miserable!!!

Making Do & Happy!

it was the first day of school.
i was running, running, running
trying to pull everything together for class that night.

got to the shop, only to realize i had left my cake stands at home!
can't have dessert without my stands!

no need to fear! fat quarters was here!!!

i grabbed the stand and the spools of stuff
from around the shop
and used them in a pinch.



liked it soooo much better than plain ol' cake stands!

who knew!



p.s. if you want one of those stands, there is at least one left at the shop!
