A Random Post

bob was on a role today!
i think i could probably start a blog solely dedicated to his shenanigans.
what is this you ask??? it's nineteen, 86 cents!!!
here in san diego county, mcdonald's 42 oz. soft drinks are $.79 ($.86 with tax) as you already know from previous posts, i go everyday to get my diet coke. so he thought it would be fun to make a 86 cent dispenser. this is as close as he's gotten. now that's love! cute, huh!
not so cute is this heaping pile of clothes on sissy's bed!

he had enough of the mess all over the floor and decided to pile it all on top of her bed! hmmm, wonder where she'll sleep???

switching gears...

i'm not sure why i didn't do this 13 years ago! for years and years i have struggled with the backpack problem in this teeny-tiny house. i don't know why it took me this long to figure it out!this wall between the kids rooms has always been empty and i had a long over-do idea to do this!

and while we were doing that, bub was trying to teach a new dog an old trick with the help of an even older dog...

who knew that teaching a pup to walk on a leash would be such a task?

bub didn't!

hope your having a great weekend!!!

A Cause for Celebration

yes, indeed...

we celebrated sissy's day by having a pizza party.
many of her family and friends came to celebrate.
i enjoyed seeing everyone, including aunt sandy whom we hadn't seen in a long time.

thanks everyone for making her day special. you mean a lot to us!

p.s. we ran into the mayor tonight at our ward social and he informed bob and i that every may 28th is 'her' day, not just yesterday...for cryin' out loud, it's like having two birthdays. it's a good thing i didn't give her a gift!

A New Day...

and a much happier mommy...
after a bad day, i am always so very grateful for a new one!

thanks for listening to my complaining.
to thank you, i thought i'd share some wonderful ideas that i have come across...
the first is this purse that i saw on an infomercial late, late last night.
i LOVE the idea...

if you haven't seen the miche bag, you must go to their site. the idea is you buy the plain purse and change out the 'skins', giving you many, many different styling options. someone got smart! probably a man who was sick of his wife spending so much money on purses to match every outfit. not to mention the space it takes up...

(i'm sure 'jorge' can relate...huh, mom?)

go check it out!!!

and speaking of skins...

bob bought himself an early father's day gift. it's a cell phone skin (they actually have skins for most electronic devices). bob customized his with photos of the kids. if he were home i'd show it to you, but he's not... it was only $6.99 and the shipping was FAST! we both agree that every father will want one for father's day and at that price you can't beat it! so go here and download some photos! have fun!!!

oh, and not to forget...

happy 'sissy' isa day!!!

Finding the Good

amongst the chaos of today!
i know i' not alone when i say that there are days when i just want to curl up in a ball and hide. it's my own fault, i put waayyy too much on my plate. i can't help it, it all sounds so fun at the time. i want to design a halloween quilt and i want to teach classes and i want to make fun treats and i want to ... blah, blah, blah. that's what today turned into...blah!!!
it was simply a combination of waaayyy too much to do, a husband who's out of town, a miserable, teething baby, children who can't seem to get along and a quilt class at home with the children running here, there and everywhere. argueing, crying, screaming, running.
"my house is NOT your jungle gym" i yelled...
it didn't help...
so as i finally get a chance to sit down, i realized that there was some good that emerged amongst the chaos.
1. my house AND my sewing room got clean! yeah!!!
2. just when i was about to have a melt down because i wasn't going to have enough time to do the baking needed for tonight's class, i ran into one of my students who offered to make cookies. yeah!!!
3. did i already say that i got my sewing room cleaned??? that was a BIGGY! as i mentioned before, we've (bob & i) have been working on re-vamping the sewing room and it was a DISASTER!!! i honestly didn't think i was going to be able to have class here tonight! now i can focus on getting the projects done.
4. tonight's quilt class was the joseph smith bom. this month's block was 'true love's knot'. i enjoyed studying the lesson that went along with it. very touching.
5. i got to spend time with friends and do something that i love.
i need to remind myself that it could be worse. it's important to find the good, even when i don't feel like it. it's like that saying...when you are to upset to pray that's when you need to the most!
p.s. do to the craziness of this week and me losing my marbles, what'cha doin wednesday and my quilter's day book will not be posted this week. i am looking forward to next week when i can show you all the projects we've been working on over here! stay tuned and have a great week...

Guess what Tomorrow is...

it's sissy's day!!!

yep, yesterday the mayor of our city gave her a proclamation.
the proclamation states that thursday, may 28th, 2009 is officially proclaimed her day.
the little princess is SOOO envious!

and today, wednesday, may 27th is jessie's day!
how fun is that!!!

Quilter's Daybook

A Quilter's Day Book for May 21st, 2009
for today, May 21st, 2009

Outside my sewing room window...
my hollyhocks are finally starting to bloom!!!
i absolutely love, love, love them and i have been waiting and waiting for them
doesn't the bud look like it's made of fabric?

I am thinking...that my sewing room needs a make-over. i have now added projects (other than quilting) to my list of things to do. thankfully, bob can help me out with several of them. one of the many is this...

my dad made it for me a while ago.
with bob's help, it will soon under-go a complete makeover. stay tuned!
I am working on...this wallhanging.

after 6 years, i think it might actually get hung up this year!
On the Longarm is...this quilt that i shared with you yesterday. it is gi-NOR-mous!!!

and see that blank wall? that's about to change...

I thought I'd share...this picture! Oh.My.Gosh! I love it! do you remember the pillowcases that i showed you way back when? the flag day farm panel replicates this quilt.

Have a GREAT day!

What'cha Doin' Wednesday

with memorial weekend right around the corner,
it's a good time to pull out the red, white & blue!

last year i finally got this quilt finished.
it had been in my 'to-do pile' for 8 long years.

and this quilt is a scrappy flag quilt that i love.
the flags are actually a small version of the flags in the above quilt.

i'll finish decorating when i get this quilt done...

it's patti's and it's the biggest quilt i've ever quilted! holy cow, it took up the entire length of my leaders!!!

hmmm, on second thought, i think i'll decorate alitlle after each pass...

hope you had a great day!
